Monday, June 30 work-

Sinkhole Activity Code 1 – indicating work is allowed on sinkhole and within containment berms. Seismic monitoring indicates low levels of subsurface activity near sinkhole/Oxy 3.

Air Monitoring/Sub-slab Sampling and Ventilation

– Conducting ventilation system inspections 

ORW/CPT Wells

– Continuing pumping on ORWs 4 (northwest of containment berm), 14 (Oxy 9 well pad), 15 (north of La 70, east of Gumbo Street), 48 (north of containment berm), 54 (west of Bayou Corne, south of La 70), 57 (southeast of Oxy 9 well pad)

– Leak testing TBC 3 pressure monitoring well (on Oxy 1 well pad)

– Conducting shutdown test at flare locations

2:15 p.m. Update from DEQ

DEQ to move Mobile Command Center out of Bayou Corne for routine maintenance

BATON ROUGE – On Monday, June 30, DEQ will move its Mobile Command Center out of the Bayou Corne area for relocation to DEQ Headquarters in Baton Rouge.

The Mobile Command Center will undergo routine maintenance in preparation for hurricane season. During the tropical storm and hurricane season, the unit is used as a mobile logistical and operational resource in support of DEQ’s emergency response mission.

DEQ environmental scientists will continue to conduct air monitoring, water monitoring and soil testing at Bayou Corne and will continue to work with local, state and federal partners in ensuring for the protection of human health and the environment.  

Upon completion of the maintenance, the Mobile Command Center may return to Bayou Corne should the need arise.

– Retrofitting geoprobe equipment in preparation for monthly pressure monitoring

The Emergency Declaration for ‘No Wake’ Zones due to the high waters will REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This declaration stands throughout the approaching weekend. Waterways included in this declaration include:
