12:50 p.m. ‘No Wake Zone’ Declared in Assumption Waterways

The Police Jury has declared an Emergency Declaration for No Wake Zones due to high waters for the following areas:

  • Bayou Corne
  • Pierre Part Bay
  • Bayou Drive Elevation Bridge
  • Belle River
  • 4-Mile Bayou
  • Bayou Gannevail
  • Bayou Crab
  • Bayou Tranquille
  • Lake Verret Park Estates Canal
  • T-Bayou
  • Pierre Part Bay, along East Drive
  • Grand Bayou

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office along with LA Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries will be patrolling the waters this holiday weekend enforcing this declaration. We encourage all boaters to have an enjoyable time on the water – and most of all to be safe!

11:45 a.m. Blog Changes

9:05 a.m. Update

It has been reported to Assumption Parish Incident Command that their is 96′ of area left to be filled in the Oxy 3 cavern. The drilling operation on the Geophone 1 well to be installed into the salt begins today.

11:35 a.m. Overnight Breaches in Berm

Texas Brine’s western berm encountered five breaches overnight. Two breaches have been repaired, one breach is small and has not been repaired yet and two larger breaches continue to fill the sinkhole and containment area. Texas Brine has indicated that repairs will occur once water levels have stabilized.
