Tropical Storm Isaac
Damage assessment teams have been dispatched throughout Assumption Parish for preliminary assessment. Entergy is working diligently to restore power.
Normal garbage collection routes will resume on Friday, August 31, 2012.
Storm debris should be placed along the roadside within the public right of way for collection. Vegetation MUST be separated from household garbage.
There is NO BURN BAN in place for Assumption Parish. Burning is allowed as long as it is 1,000 feet from a resident or highway.
A point of distribution (POD) site will be set up at Lucky Hit Shopping Center in Plattenville. We are expecting goods sometimes during the day today.
Preliminary assessments of the sinkhole in Bayou Corne/Grand Bayou have been made. There has been no growth of the sinkhole observed. DNR and OEP will be moving equipment back into the area throughout the weekend. The OEP Mobile Command Post is expected to be back in operation by Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Texas Brine has confirmed that evacuation checks will be issued on Friday, August 31, 2012, at the St. Joseph the Worker Church Hall from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
