A voluntary evacuation of low lying areas is still in effect. With the current track of the storm, we are expecting outer bands as early as 1 p.m. on Tuesday. We should experience more sustained weather at 1 a.m. on Wednesday. Given the current track, Assumption Parish is expecting 60-80 mph winds with gusts of 100 mph.
All Assumption Parish Schools will be dismissed 45 minutes early today and will be CLOSED on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 and Wednesday, August 29, 2012. A decision about Thursday will be made at a later time.
Waste Management will continue with their normal Monday route. Routes for Tuesday and Wednesday have been cancelled. Thursday’s route will be determined at a later time.
The Assumption Parish Courthouse and all government agencies will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A list of sand and sand bag sites has been posted on the parish website, www.assumptionla.com.
Relative to the Bayou Corne/Grand Bayou incident, all State Agencies have demobilized and left the site. The Parish will also demobilize today and remove all monitors within the community. Texas Brine has ceased all drilling operations and is currently in Hurricane Mode.
The results of the EPA flight that took place on Saturday were non-detect.
