Public Meeting Tonight!
The public meeting will start tonight at 6:30 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. State and local officials and industry representatives will provide updates and information about current operations. There will be reserved seating for residents of the mandatory evacuation area. State agencies will also have booths set up to field questions from residents after the presentations are over. Frequently Asked Questions, Bayou Corne Sinkhole Incident

DNR released the following statement on yesterday, 08/23/2012. Louisiana Commissioner of Conservation James Welsh announced today that Texas Brine may face fines of up to $5,000 a day, or take further enforcement action, if the company does not indicate its intention to cooperate with the enforcement order issued last week requiring immediate payment of assistance to Bayou Corne residents under an evacuation order, including retroactive payments dating back to the original evacuation order.
