The rig will shortly be on its way. Escorted by Louisiana State Police, the trucks hauling it will be coming in today via I-10 to LA-69 to LA-70. Traffic delays are to be expected as well as intermittent traffic stops on LA-70 near the site to let the trucks in.
John Boudreaux stated that he and Captain Bruce Prejean went to the sinkhole/slurry site yesterday afternoon with DEQ to collect air samples and used a laser range finder to determine the measurements of the sinkhole and found and they are:
Northeast to Southwest: 476’
Northwest to Southeast: 640’
This growth is not abnormal or alarming. The edges of the slurry have sluffed in which is expected because of the depth of the hole and the terrain in which it is found.
